MISS UNIVERSE candidates gathered on a stage in Manila last night for one of the preliminary rounds of this year’s competition – which involved them stripping down to just their bikinis.

Christina Wage of Norway stepped out in a green and white leaf-print bikini, wearing her long blonde hair in loose curls.

And flying the flag for Great Britain was scuba-diving action girl Jaime-Lee Faulkner, whose orange barely there bikini turned heads.

Colombia and Costa Rica’s entries looked radiant in bright yellow bikinis, and Canada’s Siera Bearchell stood out in fluorescent pink.

The judges’ scores from the swimsuit competition and evening gown round, plus the series of preliminary interviews, will determine which beauties will make it to the top 12
